Scope of Work

The Jungle School Teacher provides quality Christian education to children in remote indigenous communities. The teacher fosters academic growth, spiritual development, character formation, and community engagement while living and serving in a cross-cultural environment. The role requires flexibility, resilience, and a heart for mission.

Qualification Standard

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) is preferred but may not be required depending on the assignment.
  • Strong Christian faith with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Supports and upholds Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and values.
  • Passion for serving indigenous and underserved communities.
  • Physically fit and willing to live in remote jungle locations.
  • Emotionally resilient, adaptable, and able to work with limited resources.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary mission team.
  • Willingness to learn local culture and language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons using available resources.
  • Teach literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, values education, and other assigned subjects.
  • Develop students’ academic, spiritual, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and Christ-centered learning environment.
  • Assess student learning and maintain academic records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, tribal leaders, and community members.
  • Participate in community visitation, health education, Bible studies, and outreach programs when needed.
  • Assist in school administration, inventory, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with missionaries, healthcare workers, pastors, and volunteers.
  • Care for teaching materials and school facilities.
