Scope of Work
A department within the Medical Division of PAMAS whose purpose is to provide essential urgent/emergent healthcare services during medical evacuation to individuals in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. This department is responsible for pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight medical tasks which help to ensure safety, and readiness for each flight.
Qualification Standard
- Must hold a degree and or certification in at least one of the following areas: MD, DO, NP, PA, RN, Paramedic, or EMT. Students, prelicensure graduates, or licensed medical professionals from other health fields will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Background in Emergency Medicine, or Flight Medic type work preferred.
- BLS certification required, ACLS certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with skill in cross-cultural communication and working with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to respond and function well in high-pressure, emergency situations.
- Willingness to be stationed in remote areas with limited access to advanced medical facilities and supporting personnel.
- Adaptability and resourcefulness in addressing healthcare needs with limited resources.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to participate in community activities and support the broader goals of the mission.
- A heart for service, a passion for missions, and a commitment to Seventh-day Adventist Christian values.
- Baptized and active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
- Must attend a qualified missionary training program prior to deployment (prior mission experience and training will be considered on a case by case basis).

Job Description
- Seek God first and integrate faith-based principles into your work. Nothing can be accomplished apart from the efficacy and efficiency of God. It is essential to maintain spiritual preparedness for anything that could happen during each flight and day. Always demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ in everything you do.
- Offer safe transportation and inflight medical care to patients.
- Utilize emergency first aid.
- Maintain the ability to be contacted at all times while on duty.
- At times, may need to function as the flight dispatcher, receiving calls for medevacs, communicating with PAMAS area contacts, etc. (see dispatch procedure and associated documents for details).
- Follow physician orders/PAMAS designated protocols in patient care during transport.
- Administer medication per physician orders and document administration accurately.
- Manage IV per order or protocol, inserting IV when necessary.
- Administer oxygen per order, adjusting rate according to indication.
- Think critically and prayerfully to respond appropriately to deteriorating patient condition utilizing available resources to manage situation and mitigate risk to patient, pilot, nurse, passengers, aircraft, and flight.
- Assist patients (and passengers) with needs during transport, including, but not limited to: intake/output; temperature management; pain/discomfort management; repositioning, and communication needs.
- Support the spiritual and emotional well-being of patients and their families in alignment with Seventh-day Adventist principles.
- Follow the code of ethics when interacting with patients and families.
- Dress in professional attire according to the Dress Code Policy.
- Complete the post flight tasks according to the check-list after each flight to ensure readiness of self, aircraft, and supplies.
- Complete and submit all documents in a timely manner.
- When on duty without an active flight, occupy yourself with tasks found in the routine duties check list, providing manpower to support other Divisions and Departments as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with other missionaries, local aviation professionals, and community leaders.
- Attend Team Worships and United Prayer.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible with schedule and plans.
