Scope of Work
The Aircraft Mechanic is to maintain and repair light aircraft (fixed-wing and/or rotor-wing) used in humanitarian and medical aviation operations. The Aircraft Mechanic will ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of airworthiness and safety, supporting PAMAS mission to provide reliable and life-saving air services across the Philippines.
Qualification Standard
Required
- CAAP-certified Aircraft Mechanic License (A&P or equivalent)
- Experience working on piston-engine aircraft (e.g., Cessna 182, 206) and/or helicopters (e.g., R66) preferred
- Strong understanding of aviation maintenance practices and safety protocols
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work in a mission-driven, faith-based environment, often in remote locations
Preferred
- Prior experience in missionary or humanitarian aviation
- Avionics troubleshooting skills
- Multi-disciplinary skills (e.g., welding, composite repair, electrical work)
- Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church or alignment with its values
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on aircraft in accordance with manufacturer specifications, aviation authority regulations (CAAP), and PAMAS protocols.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues.
- Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance and pilots to ensure aircraft readiness for missions.
- Assist in procurement and inventory of aircraft parts, tools, and supplies.
- Participate in hangar upkeep, safety procedures, and team meetings.
- Support field operations by traveling to remote locations as needed for aircraft recovery or field maintenance.
- Uphold the values and mission of PAMAS through professional and spiritual conduct.
- Assist with upkeep of airstrip and grounds maintenance.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Based at a rural airbase or maintenance hangar, occasionally deployed to field locations
- Involves physical labor, outdoor work, and flexible hours
- Emphasis on teamwork, prayer, and service to others
- Position may be salaried, supported, or volunteer depending on arrangement
