From a young age, Erica Burgos was quietly inspired by the missionaries and literature evangelists who visited her local church. God placed in her heart a desire to one day serve as God’s nurse on duty in underserved areas. As a nursing student, she had a vivid dream of a remote place where the gospel was scarcely known. The burden she felt upon waking was undeniable. That same morning, the Lord confirmed His call through the story of Jeremiah. After much prayer, Erica said yes to God’s invitation—and on August 3, 2023, she began her journey with PAMAS as a missionary nurse based in Palawan.
“Ah Lord God! There is nothing too hard for Thee.”

Miracles in the Mission: The Story of Tatay Bernabe
While working in the mountains, Tatay Bernabe suffered a complete fracture and was carried down by villagers for help. Erica and the PAMAS team responded with care, trusting God to provide for hospital bills and medications. After surgery and an implant, Tatay went home with little support, but Erica’s team visited daily—praying, treating infections with natural remedies, and claiming God’s promises.
In time, the wounds healed, the infection cleared, and his strength returned. But the greatest miracle was in his heart—fear and despair turned to joy and gratitude, as he now gives glory to “the living God in heaven.” For Erica, Tatay’s story is a daily reminder that the work is God’s, and He still heals both bodies and hearts.
What Keeps God‘s Nurse on duty Going
“Being able to work in the medical side of this vast mission field requires skills I know I don’t have on my own. But every time I feel overwhelmed, God reminds me: It’s not my work—it’s His. That’s what keeps me going.”
Jeremiah 32:17 & 27
“Ah Lord God! behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the earth by Thy great power… Is there anything too hard for Me?”
This verse reminds Erica that nothing is too hard for God. He sees even the smallest burdens and works through our weakness in ways beyond what we could imagine.
