Growing up as a pastor’s kid, Marjanne was no stranger to mission work. She often tagged along on her father’s trips and once dreamed of joining the Sulads to reach remote tribes. But as she grew older, her focus shifted—just like many in her generation, she began to chase what the world calls “win in life.” Yet, her story of Gen Z faith reminds us that God’s plans never fade; in His perfect time, He rekindled her heart for missions once more.

“My generation defines success differently. Passing the boards, getting a car, building a house, getting a career that fits their profession. But God told me… ‘My plans are way bigger than yours’.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

Plot Twist!

After college, she decided to give mission work a try for just a year before pursuing her career plans—a typical Gen z mindset. She joined the Adventist World Radio–Center for Digital Evangelism (AWR-CDE) as a Digital Missionary, expecting a temporary experience but finding instead a life-changing calling. Her journey deepened her faith, especially when her path took an unexpected turn. Failing the board exam was painful, but God used that disappointment to redirect her. Passing the CHRA exam later opened new doors, leading her to PAMAS—not in the media work she expected, but in Human Resources, where her new skills became part of God’s plan.

Embracing Her Unknown

Her early days at PAMAS tested her faith in new ways. Unsure of her role and far from her comfort zone, she faced challenges that stretched her both spiritually and professionally. Yet, while visiting remote schools and meeting people who lived with joy despite hardship, she saw faith in its purest form—especially in the children eyes and faces who lit up each time they received even the simplest gifts, accepting them with hearts full of gratitude and contentment. Those experiences taught her that God is present in every detail of her journey, guiding her through the unknown and transforming every weakness into testimony.

Gen z plot twist faith wins

Surrounded by the kids in Tibugawan, Marjanne found the kind of win that can’t be measured by achievements.

Pressing On Through Challenges

Now, every challenge reminds her of why she said yes to the call. Trekking through mountain trails and hearing children sing in far-flung schools strengthen her trust in God’s promises.

Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” What began as a short-term mission has become a lifelong calling—a journey that continues to prove that with God, nothing is impossible.
