In the Footsteps of Sacrifice
A Mission that Touched the World
On the morning of March 1, 2023, Daniel Lui and Janelle Alder left the PAMAS Palawan base on a medivac flight to the remote island of Mangsee. The weather was clear. It was, by all appearances, to be a routine mission… Yet it was anything but routine.
During the return trip to Palawan with the patient and two watchers, their GPS tracking device suddenly stopped sending location pings. Daniel and Janelle’s own co-missionaries with the PAMAS pilots and aircraft immediately launched a search and rescue operation. The search spanned 5,000 square miles by air and continued tirelessly on land and sea. It united public, private, and government entities and moved people worldwide to their knees in prayer.
While questions still linger and answers fail to satisfy, one truth remains: the lives of these two selfless missionaries reveal something of God’s heart of sacrifice. Daniel and Janelle chose to follow the footsteps of One who gave Himself that others might have life. Their story has stirred conviction in the hearts of many, and inspired some to take up their cross with Christ in His mission to reach a lost and hurting world.

About PAMAS
Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services (PAMAS) is a Philippine-registered, non-profit humanitarian organization that was established in 2010. It is staffed solely by dedicated volunteers, and our services are available to everyone regardless of their social, religious or financial status. PAMAS is a supporting ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, although it is not affiliated with or supported by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists®. We work closely with the church to support our shared mission to proclaim the gospel of the Three Angels’ Messages in preparation for His soon return (Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Rev 14:6-12).
